Dr. John Cranham-Cosmetic/Esthetic Excellence in a
Digital World

The Spectrum Dental Society completed an amazing two days of education with Dr. John Cranham, a master restorative dentist trained by Dr. Pete Dawson. It was perhaps the most informative and high level education we have ever had as a study club. 

Thursday night at Brookside Country Club was a great turnout and we were rewarded with Dr. Cranham introducing the digital side to aesthetic and occlusal analysis using our digital technology! He showed multiple cases highlighting the importance of thorough esthetic evaluation, treatment planning, and delivery.

On Friday we had an intimate group of doctors, including residents and faculty from The Ohio State University Advanced Prosthodontics Department. Dr. Cranham's presentation focused on the ability to take the principles of occlusion from the analog to digital world. He demonstrated the accuracy, efficiency, and power of digital technology but highlighted the importance of sound occlusal diagnosis and principles. 

While there were many incredible philosophical pearls, one of the best quotes from the two days was, "Without sound aesthetic and functional principles, digital dentistry will only allow dentists to screw up patients' mouths even faster." (Dawson) We could not agree more, and it is our job and mission to continue to find ways to utilize digital dentistry that are in harmony with sound principles .
